Knowledge is power………

So much to learn.....

So much to learn.....

One of my favourite sayings is “When we know better we do better” by Maya Angelou.  It is okay to make mistakes, we all make them…. but it is a real shame not to learn from them .

We need to increase our knowledge and in particular our self-knowledge. The more we know and learn about ourselves, the better equipped we are to make it through life and it’s challenges.  As we grow, as we age, as we make mistakes….we learn. Without knowledge we can not improve. The more we listen to others that we trust, learn from our mistakes, learn more about ourselves , learn from those who have been through tough times, read and investigate the better prepared we are to face our own life. Here are some sayings that I like to remind myself to keep trying and keep learning:

Knowledge is power Sir Frances bacon……………….

Be not afraid of growing slowly; be afraid only of standing still.                      Chinese Proverb

The happiest life is that which constantly exercises and educates what is best in us. Hamerton

If we all did the things we are capable of, we would astound ourselves.
Thomas Edison

Fear less, hope more, eat less, chew more, whine less, breathe more, talk less, say more, hate less, love more, and good things will be yours.
Swedish Proverb

“When you know better you do better.”
Maya Angelou

Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.

Do you feel like you are improving with age?? Do you feel like you are getting happier? Can you make some changes to improve your situation?  I would love to hear from you on what you have learned that has helped to improve your happiness?……..

If only we had the knowledge we have now back then!!! I often think that and I try to intall this knowledge into our 11 year old daughter, but of course she is going to have to learn from her own mistakes!! We only hope that they will be small ones!!

  2. Yes I often find myself trying to impart life lessons to our kids…some they listen to and plenty they don’t. We have a 30 minute drive together every morning and every afternoon to the school bus so I have a captive audience….I am sure they feel like their ears are going to bleed sometimes.
Your right Liz…we can try….(and believe me keeping those lines of communication open is a great start) but in the end they will learn in their own way. I figure at least we can give them a good solid base to start from.

We'd love to hear from you...Please leave a comment..
