Do you ever stop to think about how brave you are?
Take some time in the next day or so to have a serious think about everything that you have had to cope with in your life. Reflect back to moments when you have had to draw on that inner strength to make it through. Think about times that you have been challenged or had to dig deep to get over life’s hurdles. Consider the moments in your life that you have felt fear, stress or anxiety and pushed through or had a challenge and been courageous enough to have a go.
Sometimes we have to be brave in the face of negativity and distress. These are the hardest of times to be brave and these are the times that have been your toughest tests, but guess what you made it through and you have proven that you can be strong.
Sometimes we have to be brave in a more exhilarating and positive way. These times can be scary but can also be exciting: a new job, a move, a new relationship, going outside of your comfort zone or challenging yourself in sport or the like. Reflect back on these times too and recall how proud you were of yourself when you dug deep and really gave it a go.
Give yourself a pat on the back. You have got this far and the getting through the past teaches you that you do have inner strength to get through any future challenges. We are all brave and need to remind ourselves sometimes of what we have accomplished and how resilient we can be.
