Carefully watch your thoughts

Dalai Lemur

Dalai Lemur……I am meditating to make my thoughts more positive!

Do you have any favourite quotes, proverbs or mantras that you draw upon to help you get back on track? One of my favourite ancient proverbs is more probably more meaningful today then ever……………..

It is supposedly either a Chinese proverb or a Mahatma Gandhi quote…….

“Carefully watch your thoughts, for they become your words.

Manage and watch your words, for they become your actions.

Consider and judge your actions, for they have become your habits.

Acknowledge and watch your habits, for they shall become your values.

Understand and embrace your values, for they become your destiny”.

Our words are no longer contained to those closest to us. These days, they are often out for public display, with so many forms of social media and mobile technology. Now more then ever, we need to be careful with our thoughts and words, for as the proverb tells us, they become our destiny. How positive are you with your thoughts and words? I’m sure we could all improve.

  1. Thank you for this post. I really love the succinct way in which you present your thoughts, and I appreciate that you always provide me with a lot to reflect on. Although I don’t have a mantra as such, I do try to live in the question of “For the sake of what ?” If my response suggests that the reason is self-serving, such as responding to an email simply because it helps me to feel better about myself, then I rethink my intentions and the action.

  2. Thanks for popping in. Love asking “for the sake of what”, it always great to really think about our intentions and actions.

  3. I’m working on it. Love the quote.

We'd love to hear from you...Please leave a comment..
