For those of you who dont know, this little happy as a pig blog comes to you from Australia.
I actually live at the bottom of a mountain in North East Victoria. I absolutely love where I live. The nature, beauty, serenity, the people and the stunning countryside have all made this the perfect place for us to raise our family and live for the past 22 years. Sadly at this time we are living with bushfires. We have just made it through a scary weekend and fear that we are in for a firey summer.
Much of our country are battling fires and my heart goes out to everyone affected. Some have lost homes and some even their lives. Many are brave heroes who volunteer and work to protect us and save our communities. Our beautiful countryside is blackened and sadly many animals have not made it or have been badly injured. Out of every tragedy comes moments of gratitude and I would like to list some things that I am grateful for in this trying time:
Community power; selflessness of volunteers; wishes of kind people; donations to charities; friends; family; a smile; a hug; an “R U OK”; a “can I help you?”;people going above and beyond; compassion; empathy; life; neighbors; Aussie humor; our homes; love; nature; country living; animal lovers and so much more.
Please think of everyone involved and send your best thoughts. Please always be kind to one another and please be grateful for what you have.
Michelle you have been on my mind lately as I watch the news and see the horror all of you in Australia are going through. In fact today, I came to your blog to contact you and see how you are doing. I’m so sorry what all of you are going through but relieved that you and your family are doing okay. I think we’ve sent you our firefighters here in the Pacific Northwest and all over America. We stand with you and will help where we can. Stay strong and safe. xo
Thank you so much for your lovely words, it really means so much to know that we all care about each other.Sadly these fires are ongoing and we have a long road ahead as this is really only the beginning of summer. Today is predicted to flare up with hot windy weather. We are still fine. How awesome are fire fighters! Seriously they are one of those heroic jobs/volunteer roles that we all can never thank enough. They are so passionate and give up so much to be here for us. We are so thankful to your teams coming to help us and so grateful to our locals who fight to save us too. We will stay safe XX
Sending you love, it so sad and heartbreaking to see and watch. I can’t imagine what it is like for you and everyone there. I hope you continue to stay safe as do all those firefighters who are working tirelessly and non stop. 💜💜
Thank you! We are awaiting rain to put an end to our fires. We are keeping safe. Our tireless firefighters and other emergency services have been our absolute saviors. XX
They are just outstanding people xx
Sending hugs
And prayers.
