The road to happiness is not a one size fits all, do one magical thing and you get to live happily ever after. I like to think of it like a jigsaw puzzle with many pieces required to make your happy picture make sense. Like jigsaw puzzles it will take time, effort and commitment to make it all come together. So where do we start?
We have to play an active role every day to be as happy as we can be. It is up to us and our efforts to make it all come together. So what are the pieces you ask? What are the things we have to focus on to make our picture come together? You know that old saying “you are what you eat” – well there is way more to it than that– you are also what you think, say, how you act, what you do, what you eat and exercise also plays a vital part too.
Think and say – Think and talk destructively and negativity will be drawn to you. On the other hand think and talk positively, calmly and kindly and you will feel the much happier. This not only applies on how you think and talk to others but even more importantly how you talk to yourself and what you think about yourself. Always choose kindness to others and be your own best friend.
Eat and exercise – we must fuel our bodies healthily and stay active to feel alive and happier. Eating well and exercising in whatever way you can and enjoy will boost your happiness. Nourishing food and a healthy body can really shift your mindset and sets you up well to cope with what life has to offer. The trick is to make it work for you – we are all different – there is not a one size fits all approach. Make is work for you.
Do and act – do kind things, be grateful, help others, treat others and yourself well. Always act from love and not from fear. Let go of the ego and let love be your guide to choices that are right for you and your happiness.
Jigsaw puzzles are not easy, but all of your hard work creates a lovely picture. Happiness is no different – it is not always easy but work hard with all of the pieces and tools that you have inside of you, and you will be rewarded with a happier life.
