What makes you say I looked stressed?I am perfectly fine!
Do you unintentionally invite stress into your life? Do you go about your day totally unaware of the stresses/tensions that surround you? Are there areas of your life where frustrations are a daily occurrence, when they really don’t need to be? Maybe you don’t even realize that the strain is there or that you are being affected? We know that stress and especially continual stress can cause illness and unhappiness, so doesn’t it make sense to try to eliminate as much stress as we possibly can? Let’s take a typical day and see where stresses may be bubbling along under the surface.
Sometimes I get so confused……
Wow! An entire month has passed between posts. I have been so busy and had not even realised…….Well it is 1st of the month reality check time again! This month I would like to remind us all of how powerful our mind and our thoughts can be. The thoughts we have can be like a supportive friend or an unhelpful foe. So how could this be good???
Life can be great and quite frankly at times it can really suck! They say that we are never given more than we can’t handle but I know at times, we feel like we are being tested to the nth degree and have no idea how we might get through.
Now a little faith….. in love , in life, in humanity is what gets me through. But I am also a firm believer that we are put on this planet to learn and just like at school, some lessons are interesting and fun and some lessons we would much rather skip altogether. Do you create some of your own stress????? Do you think that all of your problems are caused by outside factors: my parents; spouse; kids; friends; colleagues; money: work etc? Guess what most often they are caused/created by ourselves? Why does one event send you into stress out melt down and not even bother someone else? Is our personality a factor? OH NO!!! How am I going to cope with this????
How do you cope?? When the nerves are frayed, tension is in the air, conflict is lurking, stresses abound, problems need to be solved, your work place has issues, and/or your relationships are going through problems….what do you do/think/say/feel to help get you through. How come some seem to cope better than others?? What can we do to help?? Well believe it or not we have been learning how to cope since birth. As babies we begin our learning by how our needs were met….through to the toddler years and how we coped when we fell, when we were hurt….right up until now? You may not realise it but you probably have many great coping skills that help you on a daily basis. I believe that if you are more aware of these skills the better you are prepared for daily battles and situations. Continue reading

This a different first of the month reality check. Firstly I am a day late…oops and secondly I thought that we might try to tackle a dilemma?
What do you do when you don’t know what to do??? Do you sometimes get confused, find it hard to know what the “right” thing to do is or get so overwhelmed that you lose the plot? Sometimes life is easy, we are faced with decisions and the answers come simply to us and problem solved. The world is good. I'm not stressed...who said I was stressed...what are you on about??
Are you a worrier? Do you find yourself getting stressed more often than you would like? Would you say that you suffer from some type of stress on a daily or weekly basis? Do you realise that it can massively affect your health and your ability to cope? Stress is a bodily reaction to a fear or danger….hormones are released to prepare us to escape danger or to fend off a threat. You may have heard of this being called our “Flight or Fight response.” There are definitely situations that require these responses….say, you arrive at a car accident and need to get in there and save people…your stress response with put you in “Action mode”…your strength will increase, your senses will sharpen and panic will be taken over by action. We have all seen or heard of stories of amazing heroic acts when the heroes don’t even know where their strength or ability to cope came from. It comes from Adrenaline and Cortisol, hormones that assist in our “Flight or fight response”. In an emergency these hormones are extremely
helpful in assisting us to cope, but on a daily basis the release of these hormones can be harmful. We are not built for constant stress or worry. These hormones stay in our body, they are not taken up to fend off or escape from impending danger. Small amounts of stress are okay but when we stress/worry too much, we actually affect our health.
