I love the saying “Compare = despair”. We know that we are all different and that we should all be different, but somehow, we keep coming back to judging those that aren’t like us. I need to remind myself of this often. I was thinking about this the other day and came up with another way to remind myself to stop judging and comparing.
Music makes me happy. I listen to it while I’m driving, cleaning and any other chance I get. The louder the better. I have my Spotify playlists of all my favourite tunes that get played on repeat. Out of the blue popped up my 2021 “what you’ve listed to list” which gave me a smile and a little mash up of all my favorites. This got me to thinking – what if my top thoughts of 2021 also showed up on my phone and showed me what I had been thinking and ruminating about for the past year??
Kindness is such a powerful and transformative quality. Now even more than ever we need to remind ourselves to be kind – not only to others but also to ourselves. What would the world look like, if from today on, we all chose to be kinder?
Let’s face it – 2020- 21 has not been easy. In such difficult and everchanging times it can be hard to stay positive and even harder to feel happy. All studies show the more resilient you can be the more likely you are to adapt and be able to cope with day-to-day challenges.
The road to happiness is not a one size fits all, do one magical thing and you get to live happily ever after. I like to think of it like a jigsaw puzzle with many pieces required to make your happy picture make sense. Like jigsaw puzzles it will take time, effort and commitment to make it all come together. So where do we start?
Imagine if others could see thought bubbles over our heads with the words that we are thinking as we go about our day… Would they see thunder cloud words, (negative) or rainbow type words (positive) thoughts emminating from you?
